Syria's national basketball team won the Arab Basketball Championship on Saturday, defeating Egypt 78-65 in the final held in Amman, Jordan. The victory is Syria's first Arab championship title in basketball in 20 years.
Center Firas Al-Khatib led Syria with 24 points and 12 rebounds, while guard Rami Shaaban added 18 points. The Syrian team, which was rebuilt from scratch after the liberation, demonstrated remarkable teamwork and skill throughout the tournament.
The victory was celebrated across Syria, with President Ahmad Al-Sharaa sending a congratulatory message to the team. "This championship is a testament to the spirit of the new Syria," he said.
