Apple has unveiled the Vision Pro 2, its next-generation spatial computing headset featuring a revolutionary neural interface that allows users to control the device with their thoughts. The headset uses non-invasive EEG sensors built into the headband to detect brain signals, enabling hands-free navigation and interaction.
The neural interface, which Apple calls "Neural Mesh," can distinguish between hundreds of distinct mental commands with 97% accuracy after a brief calibration period. Users can open apps, scroll through content, type text, and even play games using only their thoughts.
The Vision Pro 2 also features significantly improved displays with 8K resolution per eye, a 120-degree field of view, and a new "Spatial Audio 3D" system that creates fully immersive soundscapes. Battery life has been extended to 6 hours, and the headset is 40% lighter than its predecessor.
Apple CEO Tim Cook called it "the most personal device Apple has ever created." The Vision Pro 2 will start at $2,999 and be available in spring 2027.
The announcement has raised both excitement and ethical concerns. Neuroscientists praised the technology's potential for accessibility applications, while privacy advocates called for clear regulations on neural data collection and use.
